Quite often on our journeys throughout the inner city we meet the most interesting people… unexpectedly more often than not and just by stopping and talking to them. We like to hang out in Darlington when we can and spend time in one of our favourite restaurants and a nice old local pub where you find an interesting eclectic bunch of people to talk to and of course where our four legged friends are allowed entry. We’ll chat more about the dining and drinking state of affairs a little later in another post. I always carry the camera with me even at night you just never know what or who you might find and as you know I like to document the streets….a couple of months ago we spent some time at Carriageworks a great performance and art space right here in Darlington at the old Everleigh railyards and afterwards we wandered down the streets to find a bite to eat at our favourite restaurant Jap’s Table. Well good gracious, as we were strolling along we came across an unusual sight…several doggies lounging on the pavement with their carers at a local Thai restaurant….this is what we found…

…and so we got to talking and found out that all these little fellas were being cared for by a great organisation called Paws and Recover they are busy establishing a network of volunteers supporting people with the care of their pets during a health crisis or difficult and stressful times in their lives. They offer practical support such as dog walking, respite care, foster homes and pet transportation etc. The services they offer are free and offer an alternative to the rehoming, abandonment or animals being euthanased during times of illness or crisis in their owner’s lives.
